14-14 tie (0-0-1)
|
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
Score ended in a 14-14 tie,
but great hitting from John who had two mammoth home runs. Steve, just
coming from a football game, also hit a dinger. Chase did a nice job
pitching in his debut at the pony dimensions. Scott stole home on a nice
bit of base running.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: Close for most of the game until the 7th. Bryan made his pitching debut at Pony, and to quote his catcher Scott, "He had good stuff." Mark had
an impressive debut as well giving the Yankees a lefty to go to. Solid hitting by all, with the Tower brothers getting into the act. Defense showed up as well with the
first double play for the Yankees to squelch an A's rally.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: The
Glenview 10 Dodgers 1-0 over Glenview 2 Yankees in a genuine pitchers' duel. The game
went down to the final out in this brief, hour-and-a-half thriller. The
solitary run scored was unearned, and unofficially there were a total of
four hits in the game. Defense was the name of the game, with Bryan taking
a sure base hit and run away from the Dodgers with a great play at
shortstop.

10-6 loss (1-3-1) |
GAME HIGHLIGHTS: A
rematch of the September 7th 14-14 tie with the Bulldogs, this game was
much closer than the score would indicate. The Bulldogs hopped on the
Yankees in the first inning, scoring six runs off only three hits and five
errors. After the first inning, the Yankees settled down and played
excellent baseball against a strong Bulldogs offensive team. Despite four Yankees
batters getting nailed at the plate by errant pitches, the resilient
Yankees still managed nine hits off the Bulldogs' pitching staff. JohnB.
went four-for-four with two RBI, and Jim and MattM. both went
two-for-three. MattM. was brilliant on the basepaths, racking up five
legitimate stolen bases. Phil got an RBI on a sacrifice.

Glenview 2 Yankees
Glenview 1 Rockies
9-1 win (2-3-1)
|
GAME HIGHLIGHTS: The
Yankees had too much pitching for the
Glenview 1 Rockies. There were at least
six well hit balls up the middle that both team's pitchers made outstanding plays
on. B.Scherer had a few that saved hits. J.Britva had an unusual time at the plate going hitless, but after a walk, stole
second, then came all the way home on a failed pick-off attempt at second. Thank you to Marty and Colin who helped us field enough to start.

Evanston 1
Glenview 2 Yankees
11-5 loss (2-4-1)
|
GAME HIGHLIGHTS: Game started right as the cold front hit at
3:00 PM. Evanston got off to an early lead that they never gave up by combining some timely hitting and
three errors by the Yankees in the first inning. Climbing an uphill battle the whole game, Glenview got within
three runs behind JimM.'s three RBI and ScottMc.'s four-for-five hitting. Marty M. pitched
two solid innings and MichaelM. had two good plays behind the plate. SteveM. looked sharp pitching as well. Michael T. made a clutch running catch in right field, but the play of the game was made by the Evanston left fielder who ran down a shot by Marty M. that was sure to be extra bases. We really enjoyed playing
Evanston ...good coaches and good sportsmanship from their players.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: Despite a tremendous effort to come back from an early deficit, we just
couldn't overcome the quick departure of #1 fan Mrs. McGivern after the first inning. The game
featured three great rundowns, a borrowed player from the other team throwing out one of their own at first from right field, some
good hitting from J.Meeder and B.Scherer, three walks and two runs scored by
B.Tower and a steal of home by J.Britva.

15-5 win (3-5-1)
|
GAME HIGHLIGHTS: The season ended on a winning note with the Yankees winning
15-5 over the Morton Grove Athletics. Winning with only eight players was truly a team effort with
many contributing.
Of most importance was the hitting of Phil who smacked a dinger, the run scoring of Mark and Scott
(four each), and the timely hitting of Chase and Steve. The pitching of Bryan and Steve was outstanding as well as the catching of Scott and Phil. Scott threw out
two would-be base stealers and Phil one.
There was much to be remembered positively in this, our final game of Fall Ball. Many thanks go out to the players who gave their effort as well as the parents who got them to the games. Special thanks to the football players and parents who rushed the players off the football field and onto the diamond. More thanks to
Dr. Marinelli who helped on the book, and Mike Tower who was there in a pinch to coach. Special thanks to players MartyM. and Michael M., who played for us during the season as well as for their own team. Finally, thanks, Steve Molitor. Again it was fun to coach with you and have our sons play together.
