TEAM ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Wednesday, October 23: Winnetka Pony remains unavailable for your game on Saturday. Consequently, I've had to move your Saturday game to 9:00 AM at Central Park West. There is only one alternate game slot available this weekend: Sunday, October 24, 3:00 PM at Huber East. Coaches Jeff Plewa and Tom Molitor: maybe that date would be more palatable. If you change the slot, please let the webmaster know so he can update the website. We've tried, guys, but there's just nowhere else available.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: Mains hit all day long: three-for-four with two doubles. Perlmutter pitched two shutout innings. Koepfgen threw out two would-be Glenview base stealers from behind the plate. Frid made a huge play from left field. Solid defense at second from Humpal. Great performance by the rest of the team against a very tough and well coached Glenview team.
WINNING PITCHER: Pierce. SAVE: Koepfgen.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: What a game! A 7-2 lead disappeared in the top of the seventh but a lead off triple by Perlmutter led to the 8-7 win! Mains and Funari each threw a couple of shutout innings, Frid was three-for-four with three RBI, and Tommy was digging out throws at first all day long! Jake cracked a couple of hard hits and played great defense. The nine-man team rundown was the real highlight! A close game where both teams played very well.
WINNING PITCHER: Mains. SAVE: Williamson.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: Another great game played by the D-backs against an outstanding Glenview team. It took a total team effort to come from behind to tie the game in the sixth and pull off a win in the bottom of the seventh. Coaches Frid and Mains must have watched game films all week to come up with this winning lineup. On offense, Matthew Y. was a single and a homer away from hitting for the cycle, Tommy Mo. had two RBI's and the "Mains Man" was on base all day. On "D," Nielsen took charge behind the plate, Chris was solid in the outfield and Clayton owned second base.
WINNING PITCHER: Perlmutter. SAVE: Funari.
PLAYERS OF THE GAME: Frid, Winship and Spring

THE DIAMONDBACKS REMAIN UNDEFEATED!

The stands were packed to watch the anticipated battle between the Ken-Winn 1 Diamondbacks vs. the Ken-Winn 2 Athletics. Regrettably, the Diamondbacks were only able to field six players by game time and the officially sanctioned (and very impatient) umpire declared the game a forfeit.
However; the coaching staff of the Diamondbacks were able to recruit two minor league players and, with the gracious acceptance of Coaches John Hines and Jim Place, we played the game to a 10-10 tie. The game was ably umpired by Mr. B/man, who had a total command of the strike zone and balanced his missed calls throughout the game! You da man, TOM!

PLAYERS OF THE GAME: Little "Dux" and his friend "Matt".

DIAMONDBACKS SUFFER FIRST LOSS
COACHES MOLITOR AND FRID PUT ON WAIVERS

The K.W. Diamondbacks suffered their first loss of the season against the solid Skokie Indians Bulldogs in a blow out that can only be attributed to miscues of Diamondback coaches.

Compared to the coaches of the Skokie dogs, Molitor and Frid looked like Abbott and Costello doing the "Who's On First" routine as they alternated coaching first and third each inning, putting their players out on defense with no apparent game plan and running their base runners out of the game with "steal signs" that were obviously never disclosed to the Diamondback players prior to the game.
The Board of Directors of the K.W.B.A. will be reviewing the game films to determine whether Molitor and Frid will be resigned next year. The Diamondback coaches took the news hard, blaming the loss on field conditions, poor umpiring, the sun got in their eyes, poor field conditions, contraction talks, the wind screens installed by the Skokie Park District, labor disputes, field conditions, that they were out too late the night before and poor field conditions.
In the post game press conference, Coach Molitor, whose family once owned the old minor league Skokie Indians, could only respond: "Get out of my face . . . nice fields. . . . are you going to eat that?" Coach Frid could not be reached for comment. He immediately left for Bermuda in search of a new coaching job.
Both coaches are reported to have sent their resumes to the A.Y.S.O.
