GAME HIGHLIGHTS: After playing a scrimmage against a pickup team of sophomore high school players (and trouncing them) during Sunday's practice, the Skokie Indians Bulldogs' bats really came alive, tallying 16 hits. And the glove work was remarkable: not one Bulldog error. Bulldogs' pitchers Harvey, Needle and Berry held the Skokie Indians Hubs Heroes to three base hits. |

9. GAME DATE: OPPONENT: DIAMOND (HOME/AWAY): SCORE (RECORD): PITCHERS & INNINGS: |
Fri., May 31 Edgebrook-Sauganash Cubs Central Park West (home) 2-12 (5-3-1) Zenner (3), Bova (4), Marmolejo (1) |

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: The Skokie Indians Hubs Heroes starting pitcher's arm fetched up sore and he only pitched three innings. Heroes' coaches wisely removed him. At that point it was 3-2 Edgebrook-Sauganash Cubs. Then it was 5-2 Cubs after five. The Cubs' T.Kane was superb, shutting down the Heroes' bats, allowing only one hit in the last five innings. The Cubs scored seven in the last two innings, thereby dashing the Heroes' hopes for a late-inning rally. |

10. GAME DATE: OPPONENT: DIAMOND (HOME/AWAY): SCORE (RECORD): PITCHERS & INNINGS: |
Sun., June 02 Edgebrook-Sauganash Marlins Wildwood (away) 9-8 (6-3-1) Bova (4), Fiffer (2), McCarthy (1) |
|
GAME HIGHLIGHTS: The Skokie Indians Hubs Heroes' Big Horse pitcher couldn't be at the game, so the Heroes pitched by committee. They came back from 3-0 to take a 5-3 lead. The Edgebrook-Sauganash Marlins tied the game 5-5, then the Heroes led 9-5 after 4-1/2 innings and 9-7 after five innings. It was a scoreless sixth inning for both teams. Then the Marlins made it tense by scoring one run in the seventh to make it 9-8. Facing runners on second and third with two out, Heroes' coaching ordered an intentional walk to load the bases. The Marlins' batter coaxed a 3-1 count, then 3-2, then finally whacked a soft liner to second base which was caught to end the game in the Heroes' favor. |

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: This was a very interesting game. Golf Maine had a one-run lead going into the sixth inning. Song pitched great for Golf-Maine but had to be relieved in the sixth by C.Stanley. The Skokie Indians Hubs Heroes were hitting in the sixth and broke the game open by scoring four runs and taking a three-run lead. Golf-Maine rallied in the bottom of the sixth, but mental mistakes on the basepaths were costly to them. Golf-Maine played some great defense. Hesser and C.Stanley led the Golf-Maine offense with several hits. -- Reported by Mases Hagopian (Morton Grove Cardinals) |
